I RAN A MARATHON!
Absolutely buzzing! Yesterday was the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2024 and I ran my first ever marathon in 6:01:09.
I am quite glad about this result, keeping in mind that neither my rank nor my time are objectively good. (Talk about always pushing yourself up!)
If you had told me when I was a morbidly obese teenager that I would one day volunteer myself to run 42K in a row for fun on a Sunday under torrential rain, I would have definitely not believed you a single bit! And yet: it happened, and just before I turn 30! What a nice revenge on life, in a way.
It has definitely not been easy to get there, and while I was running it I thought more than once to quit. But I simply kept on running and focused on the goal. I guess it is a proof that everything is possible when you give yourself a chance and the time to achieve it.
And I’ll finish with the best quote from supporters I’ve seen along the route: “pain is just French for bread” (and it’s correct!)
