I AM A BRITISH CITIZEN!

“I do solemnly, sincerely and truly declare and affirm that on becoming a British Citizen, I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III, his Heirs and Successors, according to law. I will give my loyalty to the United Kingdom and respect its rights and freedoms. I will uphold its democratic values. I will observe its laws faithfully and fulfil my duties and obligations as a British citizen”

After reciting those words and with a wee bit of emotion, I am thrilled and proud to announce that I officially became a British citizen today. It has been a journey long of almost seven years, between the moment I decided to make Scotland my home and this milestone.

Wee lucky nod to my European roots and values: the room in which the citizenship ceremony was called the European Room.

I am proud to have made Scotland my home, and I am delighted and thankful to now be a citizen of such an amazing country.
