I RAN THE 2025 MADRID MARATHON!
Last Sunday, I ran the 2025 Madrid marathon in 6:00:03. It has been, without a doubt, the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.
I was hoping to finish it a bit faster, and at least go under the 6-hour mark, but sadly it's not been the case. Being now used to the Scottish weather, I absolutely underestimated the warmth and sunshine of the Spanish capital. That being said, compared to the previous marathon I ran, I still improved my time by 66 seconds. It's not much, but trust me, it is a lot at the same time!
The general power outage that Spain has known yesterday made the trip back to Edinburgh definitely more eventful. No metro running to the airport, no idea what’s happening and no cellular reception was an interesting combo to say the least. Luckily I was able to grab a taxi, and the journey without any working traffic lights took a good couple of hours instead of a 20-minute ride; and I caught my flight on time. I am glad to hear the situation is getting back to normal there.
I really enjoyed my few days in Madrid, and I am happy to be back in Scotland with a medal, sore legs, and a few sunburns.
